There’s a Penumbral Eclipse of the Moon coming up tonight, so go out and have a look if you’re in the East Coast it’ll begin at 5:15 PM and end at 11:22 PM EST. For us here in the West Coast it’ll be visible only in the end around 8:22 PM PST.
They’re talking about me on my period!
Vanessa Tiegs took photographs of the red moon last night overlooking the San Francisco Bay Bridge. I wonder if a lunar eclipse tricks my pituitary gland into thinking that the Dark Moon is upon me again. I was moody all day yesterday, and the slightest chiding from Jay brought me near tears. As I watched the red moon come into fullness, I started to cheer up. My self is clear to me again. (Or maybe I just stopped focusing on my silly little self and became aware of the magnanimity of the cosmos.) I looked over at Jay, and felt glad to be sharing this moment with him.

could you write us some poetry about the moon? where in the city are you going to dig her tonight? write more philosophy also, please please.
What is it with you left coasters and the moon? I swear, it’s like some rock has power over the ocean, the calendar and women’s bodies, and it’s like, “oh, the moon, the moon.” Back east, if we even see the moon, we can only comment on it by ironic reference to its appearance in German Expressionist cinema.
Last night I watched the red moon appear from the old Navy base in Alameda. It’s a wide open space of docks and low-rise warehouses. I couldn’t take my eyes off her last night, wasn’t she beautiful? I decided I would just experience it, instead of fooling around with my camera. Quite a spectacle New Yorkers miss while holed up in their high-rises and subway stations.
I’ve written a song about the moon and my personal connection to her. It’s called Moontide. I truly appreciate your request for my writing. Will do.
that’s so nice you had the space to take her in so fully. i feel not bringing the camera was a really good idea. taking the deeper picture, right? you know billie singing ‘what a little moonlight can do’? that is so hot. thank you for sharing your poetry, again. you have an intellect both lovely and courageous. have you checked out the moon(s) in godards
‘hail mary ‘?
