Fork in the Road
If you’re wondering what I’ve been up to the past two weeks, well, keep wondering because I myself don’t know.
We’re considering moving. Not to New York City again, though we fancy that once in a while. We have some lifelong friends there and I know the city like the back of my hand, but I guess I’m looking for an adventure. Something new.
LA is a city I don’t know yet. I have some friends there too, and everytime we come down there something exciting always happens for us.
There’s also the option of moving all the way back to the Philippines, where I was born and grew up. It would be nice to raise my kid in Asia, learning several Asian languages as well as English. But that might be too much upheaval.
Yesterday we looked at some houses in the Sunset in San Francisco. Jay lived there long before I met him, and has very fond memories of the place. I love how immense the Pacific Ocean is. I love anything wild and untamable like the biggest body of water on earth.
We’re exploring all these possibilities, in addition to buckling down and buying this house we’ve lived in for over a year. It’s a great place, and we’ve never bought a house ever. I think buying a home is the biggest commitment one can make, even scarier than marriage. I’m afraid owning a house might turn into a black hole sucking up my time and resources, and for what? Equity? Is it really worth all the trouble?

I am a bit drunk and incoherient now, but anyway, thought i would let you know of places i have lived that i liked.
I am mostly from Seattle so like living ther a lot. Lots of ethnic people and great places to eat Asian food. Tolerant for the most part.
I have also lived around LA and it isn’t so bad there either. Now I am living on the Oregon coast because I have a job there photographing whales…but i prefer big city.

Photographing whales!!! That is so awesome! Jay and I got a chance to look at some whales once. There were migrating gray whales coming up the coast from Mexico and we got to see them pretty up close. It freaked me out how relatively tiny our boat was compared to these gentle giants. I just kept sucking on my ginger candy to keep myself sane. It’s one of those totally unforgettable experiences in my life. Thanks for writing in, Craig!

You are one of the most intelligent and sexy people I’ve ever had the pleasure of discovering. You should jump in with both feet and get the house.
