Quest For Fire
Happy Winter Solstice!
Tonight’s entertainment is the movie Quest For Fire by Jean-Jacques Annaud. It’s set during the Ice Age when primitive tribes battled violently for possession of fire. It’s a love story, much more moving than the hit-lover-with-a-club kind of caricature one generally gets when dealing with primitive sexual relations. Love teaches humans how to make fire through rubbing sticks together. Love teaches humans how to laugh.
Quest For Fire has incredible sex scenes, more intense than the breast-heaving sex scene between Lucy and the Beast in Coppola’s Dracula (sorry, I digress… I just saw both movies recently so the image is fresh in my mind). I’m not surprised. Jean-Jacques Annaud has directed some very hot sex scenes in two other favorites, The Name of The Rose and The Lover. I guess the French have a reputation to uphold.
