I just got out of a long hot shower. It’s the only way I can warm up my bones on these cold winter nights. After my shower I got out my jar of Avena Botanicals Fairy Flower Creme and rubbed it luxuriously all over my legs and feet, all the while remarking to Jay how much I love this creme. It’s heavy, but my skin absorbs every bit of it and doesn’t stay greasy for long. All the ingredients are certified organic and grown right on the Avena grounds in Rockport, Maine, not too far from where we live right now. Jay just nodded, obviously not listening to a word I said.

I asked him if he could tell the difference in my skin since I started using the creme. He made some kind of sound that resembled “No.” It really makes me wonder why the hell I go through all this effort to rub goo all over myself, keep my skin soft and supple and smooth for him, when he really can’t tell the difference.

Can men really tell the difference? Are we ladies just wasting our time plucking and rubbing? I know Jay complains sometimes when I haven’t dressed sexy for him in a while, or when I don’t talk dirty in bed.

You know what else Jay complains about? Really strong scented products. He hates perfumed anything. I only buy stuff that’s marked “Unscented” but even unscented stuff has a smell. When I bought the Fairy Flower Creme, I passed it under his nose first, to make sure it would be fine for me to use. I’ve made a mistake before and rubbed a creme on my face that gave Jay a headache. I had to wash it right off but the smell of lavender still clung to my skin. It was awful!

But what about rough dry skin? Does that really matter to guys at all or is that just a girl thing? I know it matters to me that I feel soft and smooth and supple. I do like rubbing myself all over with this stuff, but you have to appreciate the amount of time it takes to cover all of me. It takes practically all day! Well, not really. But it might as well be, now that my time is taken up with Mommying.

I just want someone to rub his hands all over my skin and tell me how smooth and soft and supple my skin is. Better yet, lick me all over (because I don’t use any of that petrochemical shit they sell for cheap at the local drug stores). Show me some appreciation for the time and energy it takes to stay young and beautiful. I think all of us ladies would like that.
